Biography

Lauren Klein grew up in Halifax and studied violin with Jan Wicha and was a member of NSYO, HSSO, and the MCPA Chamber Orchestra. She received a Bachelor of Music and a Diploma in Chamber Music from Wilfrid Laurier University where she studied with Jerzy Kaplanek, as well as a Masters of Music from the University of Victoria with Sharon Stanis. In Victoria she performed with the Victoria Chamber Orchestra, the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra, and Raven Baroque. In Halifax she regularly performs with Symphony Nova Scotia, and currently serves as Concertmaster for the Chebucto Symphony Orchestra. Other projects have included the contemporary opera The Bells Of Baddeck, the Galileo Choir, King’s Chorus, session recordings, weddings, and many other appearances.

She teaches Suzuki violin to students of all ages. She has completed Suzuki Teacher Training Books 1-5, Practicum, and Teaching Strategies. Her trainers have included Edmund Sprunger, Nancy Jackson, and Joanne Melvin among others.
